The Technical Audit: Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Bat-Swing Faces a Structural Test in Manchester
A Rajasthan Royals teammate casts doubt on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's style ahead of the Manchester T20I. Inside the technical analysis of his bat-swing.
The cricket world Indian cricket is always full of drama. And as we all know, Riyan Parag frequently finds himself in the middle of the action. A major debate broke out online about an untrue video that contained a vape within the area of the player. This led to an internet-wide firestorm where people questioned why the 17-year-old Rajasthan Royals star escaped a official exclusion. I find it fascinating to study how perception changes when a player having a "strong family background" is being involved in a difficult incident.

The Vape Case Controversy Explained
The extent of the criticism was not just a result of the vape in itself, but rather the standard of discipline that is expected by a professional athlete who is part of an eminent brand. As soon as the pictures first appeared on the web, there was a split. It is well-known that Riyan Parag is always been a controversial figure due to his violent public appearances and outspoken personality.
The most important concern posed by the fans was if the BCCI as well as the franchise he was associated with took sufficient actions. The majority of people on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) began to think that his roots as a family member within the world of sports provided him with a protection cover. According to me this particular incident demonstrates the gulf between a person's personal life and the professional obligations they have as model for others.
Analyzing the Impact on Riyan Parag's Career
However, despite the press coverage, Riyan Parag remains focussed on his play. He has transformed his game during the last national seasons and has resulted in an eagerly-awaited national call-up. But, as we all know that talent is often accompanied by the burden of scrutinization.
Player Discipline Professional cricketers are held to rigorous anti-doping and behavior rules.
Social Media - Scrutiny Each and every move, be it in a hotel or in a field will soon be scrutinized of a multitude.
The importance of this is tactical. for the Rajasthan Royals, Parag is not just an emerging prospect. He is an essential middle-order player.
Why Fans Are Questioning the Influence of Background
I think the heart issue in this argument lies within this "privilege" narrative. Because Riyan Parag's father Parag Das was a former first class cricketer, a lot of fans believe it is a given that Riyan Parag is given more opportunities than a local player who has no connections would be able to. It is well-known that the Indian cricketing scene is extremely competitive and any indication of kindness is usually considered to be favouritism.
But, it is clear the recent statistics he has posted in his participation in the IPL in 2024 as well as The Deodhar Trophy tell an entirely different narrative. If he did not get banned the reason could happen because there wasn't tangible evidence of a policy or the result of a "phone call" from a influential close friend.

We all know that the stress of being professional athletes in India is a lot. If the incident was an "ban escape" or just an absence of proof the debate surrounding Riyan Parag remains not over.
