The Technical Audit: Why Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Bat-Swing Faces a Structural Test in Manchester
A Rajasthan Royals teammate casts doubt on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's style ahead of the Manchester T20I. Inside the technical analysis of his bat-swing.
I've always believed that this Pakistan Super League is the mainstay of cricket in the country And during the current PSL 2026 season, this is never more evident than now. It is well-known that the franchise game is often in the eyes of ex-presidents and legends. However, the recent confrontation with Islamabad United star Faheem Ashraf and the former the captain Mohammad Hafeez has brought a new level of tension to the competition. The players can clearly see what this league is important to current players. Faheem gave a sharp and calm defence of the system that helped shape his personal career.

The Controversy: Mohammad Hafeez Questions the Hype
The argument started the moment Mohammad Hafeez was slyly criticized at the repeated narratives of promotion of the game. Hafeez suggested that the "same noise" and "advertised superstars" come back every year with no real progress on the core of Pakistan cricket. I was struck by the fact this Hafeez was able to be unsure if the exaggerated excitement around PSL PSL is translated into actual results for the national team.
At a recent press conference at Karachi, Faheem Ashraf was not afraid of expressing his opinion. He said that, while Hafeez can be entitled to make his own decisions however, it's interesting to see that the way of thinking changes when an athlete leaves the playing field. "It was the same when he was playing in the PSL, but now he has stepped away," Faheem observed, affirming that PSL's worth is not to be ignored by people who used to benefit from the league.
Faheem Ashraf: PSL is a Career-Changing Platform
From the perspective of a professional analyst, Faheem's argument has a lot of weight. He explained his PSL as an "career-changing platform" that provides opportunities for not only young people as well as for older adults looking to rejuvenate their look. I believe that his focus of "protecting the younger generation" is perhaps the most strategic aspect of his campaign.
Development Pathway The team of Faheem stated that the league provides an opportunity to join international leagues as well as to National teams.
team stability: The coach attributed the Islamabad United's performance to maintaining the strength of their core players which, according to him, is successful in games.
Uniqueness: Aheem has also made reference to the legendary figures like Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood in a statement that reads, "I have my own brand name. I am Faheem Ashraf."

Protecting the Future of Pakistan Cricket
It is clear that the case is that for Faheem the issue is not only about winning games, it is all about the system. He stressed that decisions made by players concerning workloads and franchise participation shouldn't be viewed by a narrow view. We all know that the current calendar is extremely demanding as well. Faheem stressed that what athletes do, it will benefit players' future success.
I believe that his emphasis in creating pathways that are more smooth to attract new talent is what is needed by the PSL must do to keep its relevance. By pushing back against the "noise" narrative, he is reinforcing the idea that the league is a high-quality, competitive environment--specifically noting that the bowling standards in the PSL remain some of the highest in the world.
Final Verdict on the Hafeez-Faheem Exchange
As a conclusion, even as "Professor" Mohammad Hafeez is a valid concern regarding the commercialization of the sport, Faheem Ashraf is a reminder to everyone about how much impact of the PSL impacts individuals' lives and their career. It is evident that, as Islamabad United aims at a second-place finish and the players are much more focused than ever showing their value in the field.
The tournament is moving towards the end of its run the exchange is an affirmation to this PSL is not just the spectacle it's a major institution. It doesn't matter if the result is Faheem playing batters down using his moderate-pace, or a promising young player getting their first call-up to the team, the effects from the "hype" are very real for Pakistan cricket. Pay attention to your United team in their quest to convert this confidence on the field into the third PSL victory.
